Dr. Seuss Read Across America day was so fun for our elementary division. We had several book characters running around and over 60 parents/grandparents that came for lunch and a time of reading. We ended our lunch with some yummy birthday cake to finish out our celebration.
Eleven of our high school students are currently in Athens, Greece on a leadership trip with Dr. Johnson of Global Next. They have been to the top of Mars Hill, the Acropolis, the Parthenon, the ancient city of Corinth, and are enjoying the culture, museums, and food (some unknown to them) of that country. They will be studying various world views and schools of thought. They will return to the U.S. on Monday. Please pray for safe travels as they return from this trip of a lifetime!
It is time for our BOOSTERTHON FUN RUN! This fundraising event will kick off on Wednesday. Our Boosterthon team will be on campus for 8 days to motivate our students and to teach some valuable character lessons. The actual run will take place on Friday, March 18. You are invited to come out and cheer on your runner, to help hand out water, and count laps. The elementary run will be at 9:00 am and the secondary run is scheduled for 10:30. Bring your lawn chair and your cheering voice and join us! The PTF sponsors all of our school-wide fundraising projects. Our goal this year is to purchase some new playground equipment and hopefully provide some type of sun/rain protection for our secondary car line area. Help your students raise support for their Fun Run and help us reach our goal.
On Saturday morning, March 12, our Sea Cadet unit, Seminole Battalion, will be dedicated in memory of our 2005 graduate, Teddy Rushing, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on 11-11-11. The ceremony will be from 9:00-10:00 am with light refreshments being served preceding the event. You are invited to attend.
Monday we will begin contacting new families to fill any vacancies available for next school year. Be sure you have completed the re-enrollment process for your child as some of the classes are close to capacity. The 2016-17 school year is our 50th year of Altamonte Christian School and we are anticipating a great year! We certainly want all of you to be a part of it!
Enjoy the great weather and your weekend.
